Las Vegas, Jan 10, 2010 – Poker star Amir Vahedi died due to complications from diabetes. The buzz of poker pro passing spread begun with fellow Mark Seif, poker pro posting the following on his blog…
“I’ve just been told by close friends of Amir Vahedi, that Vahedi passed away in Las Vegas on January 8, 2010, due to complications involving blood sugar levels. Waiting for for more details. Devastating news. Very very sad.”
Amir Vahedi Bio / Who is Amir Vahedi?
Vahedi was an Iranian army who served his country during the Iran-Iraq conflict and eventually end-up in Los Angeles where he would go on to educate Hollywood actor Ben Affleck to play poker.

- 2008, $25,000 buy-in World Poker Tour Championship in Bellagio.
- 2003, Finished sixth for a $250,000 cash in World Series of Poker Main Event. Won one WSOP bracelet cost $1,500 NLHE. According to report, Vahedi earned much as nearly 2.5 million dollar over the course of his poker career.
- 2001, named as Texas Hold’em Player of the Year.
