Westampton, November 29, 2009 – NJ Turnpike accident, NJ Turnpike traffic report. According to authorities, a tractor-trailer accident on the New Jersey Turnpike has caused heavy traffic backups of several miles in the southern part of the state.
A southbound tractor-trailer, Bowling Green, Ky. carrying paper products hit the embankment near an overpass in Westampton and begun to fire around 12:45 p.m.
William Ivy, 56, truck driver of tractor-trailer was taken to a hospital. According to State police, Ivy’s injuries aren’t life-threatening and traffic had to be detoured for several hours in both directions as engineers work the damage on the overpass.
