Bobby Bowden retiring: Jimbo Fisher to replace Bowden

Tallahassee, December 1, 2009 – Florida State coach Bobby Bowden is retiring according to ESPN source.
Bowden’s 388 career victories run second on Penn State’s Joe Paterno as college football’s most winning coach, talked with TK Wetherell (FSU president) and Randy Spetman (athletic director) on Monday morning. Bowden, 80, was given two options according to buzz, return to FSU in 2010 as an ambassador or retire after upcoming Seminoles’ bowl game.
Rumors spread that Jimbo Fisher has agreed to replace Bowden after this season. The organization would have owed Jimbo Fisher $5 million if he didn’t replace the retiring coach by January 2011.
